Two crooks were armed Monday night when they broke into a home in Valdosta, Georgia just after 11pm. One of the home invaders carried a rifle and the other had a handgun as the suspects kicked in the front door.
56 year-old Chen Zhao was inside with her husband and 15 year-old son William Zhao. During the incident the son was shot in the leg and the mother was shot in the arm as she tried to get away and run toward the back of the house where her husband was at the time.
But the husband had a gun of his own and went toward the front of the house to confront the armed intruders where he reportedly “unloaded on the suspects”.
According to myfoxal.com,
Both Chen and her son William were taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment and are expected to recover.
But before the suspects could steal anything, the husband, Tian Zhao, came to the front of the home with a gun of his own and unloaded on the suspects. “During that incident, the two offenders were shot several times,” said Childress.
The two suspects then ran from the apartment. But less than ten minutes later police got a suspicious call about another possible shooting just two blocks away at 2406 Oxford Drive.
“There, we identified another person, an individual, who said he had been shot multiple times,” stated Childress. That person was 22 year-old Travis Stewart.
Childress said after looking at the information from both scenes, investigators concluded that Stewart was likely one of the suspects who attempted to rob the apartment on Emory Street.
Another man was checked into a hospital in Thomasville late last night, also having been shot several times. VPD is investigating whether this man is the second suspect in the Emory Street incident. So far though, no arrests have been made. Stewart remained at SGMC Monday afternoon, but the hospital would not release any information on his condition.
Once again, in a situation where the police could not be there on time, a gun owner was able to defend his life and family from criminals who broke existing gun laws. Both suspects were shot several times and did not stick around after they realized this was the home of a gun owner who was ready and willing to protect his family.
This is yet another DGU (defensive gun use) that will be ignored by all of Bloomberg’s anti-gun groups like Everytown and Moms Demand Action because it does not fit their agenda. But these stories happen all the time and offer more proof that criminals break gun laws and law abiding citizens need guns to keep their families safe.
