It did not take long after Target announced a new gun policy that asks gun owners to leave their guns at home for criminals to get the memo.
There were no law abiding gun owners in sight when a man was robbed at gunpoint by 3 armed suspects. The robbery took place at a Gainesville, GA Target parking lot early Tuesday evening.
It was just a few days ago that the retail giant announced a new gun policy that asked all gun owners to either leave their guns at home or not come into their stores with any firearms. Before the announcement the store had been simply following local laws regarding guns until Moms Demand Action and other not-so grassroots anti-gun groups started pressuring the chain to ban guns from their establishments.
According to the Gainesville Times police were able to arrest the 3 men suspected of committing the robbery.
Xavier Holland, 21, Zaccari Goudelock, 20, and Kenneth Loving, 17, were arrested later that day. The victim, Kyle Bledsoe, reportedly had more than $500 cash on him.
“Officers were able to locate the suspects on Azalea Drive, and with the assistance of Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies they were able to detain all three suspects,” Holbrook said Monday.
The alleged robbery took place around 6 p.m., Holbrook said.
Officers have taken one weapon into evidence, he said.
“Officers did recover a firearm — a handgun — that was utilized during the commission of the crime,” he said.
So to recap…
- Target asks gun owners to leave guns at home to appease anti-gun groups that feel uncomfortable being around guns.
- Criminals with guns ignore the policy and show up at Target with guns and rob someone.
- Law abiding gun owners obey the new gun policy and shop somewhere else.
But at least the criminals had a safe working environment, right?
To be clear, Target is not calling this an outright ban on guns but a simple request for gun owners to not bring their firearms into their stores.
