Two crooks armed with pistols not only ignored the gun-free zone at the North Carolina state fair this year, but they may have been emboldened to commit their crime based on the judge’s decision to disarm law abiding citizens.
2nd amendment supporters were outraged earlier this month when Wake County Superior Court judge Donald Stephens ruled that law abiding citizens carrying concealed guns to the state fair would be “unwise and imprudent”.
The ruling triggered a backlash from gun owners across North Carlina and across state lines as well. And now that 3 were robbed at gunpoint in what was supposed to be a “gun-free zone” it validates the point that gun-free zones do nothing to stop bad guys with guns.
According to the Washington Times,
The same activists are now blaming N.C. officials after three people were robbed by two men armed with pistols while walking to their cars Saturday night.
“By announcing to violent predators that people attending the North Carolina state fair would be unable to protect themselves, the responsibility for this armed robbery of fair-goers lies squarely with Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, who illegally banned concealed at the fair, and … Stephens, who willfully misinterpreted the law to impose his own worldview,” Paul Valone, president of Grass Roots North Carolina, told Guns.com.
Mr. Valone had argued the case in front of Judge Stephens that the state fair gun ban violated a law passed by the state legislature that expanded concealed carry rights, The Blaze reported.
The ignorant are the only ones who feel safer in gun-free zones. A cute little sign with a picture of a gun and a red line through it will not deter a violent criminal. Stories like this have to make one wonder if the 2 armed men would have even dared to bring their guns near the fair if the event had not been declared a gun-free zone.
