Marcum is officially being charged with obstructing an officer. The arresting officer from the Logan City Police Department, James Adkins, claims that when Jared refused to stop talking, that hindered his ability to do his job.
And here is where it get’s even more ridiculous. The Logan County Police Department initially claimed that the at-the-time 8th grade Logan Middle School student was arrested for disturbing the education process, obstructing an officer, and the boy’s father says that officers even went as far as threatening to charge Jared with making terroristic threats.
What? So if you wear an NRA t shirt and don’t want to take it off it puts you on the same level as a terrorists? Hmm if that’s the criterion I wonder how many of our readers would fit that description?
And if anyone was disturbing the education process it’s the staff of the school that made a big issue out of this in the first place. Perhaps if Jared were wearing a t-shirt that had Michael Bloomberg’s face on it with his new tour bus and anti-2nd amendment agenda it would have been ok.
Nowhere in the arresting officer’s petition, does it mention Jared ever making any threats or acting in a violent manner, but that did not stop the judge from allowing the prosecution to push forward with the case.
The boy’s father says he is going to fight this thing, and it looks like common sense is on his side. Now we just have to wait and see if common sense will help in our judicial system.
Rather then going after the actual terrorists or at least the people who are acting in a “violent manner” the police in this case are choosing to go after a kid who happens to be an NRA supporter. And if you’re like us, you believe it’s the arresting officer that needs to be investigated for these trumped up charges, or maybe he can pay for Jared Marcum’s college education, if this incident doesn’t ruin his permanent records.
