Three criminals have been arrested and one is dead after at least two of these suspects broke into a 75-year-old’s farmhouse at 2:30am on Thursday.
Charles Carlson, the resident of the Minnesota farmhouse, was a cancer patient and he was not about to let his life end prematurely when he woke up to a gun in his face with 2 intruders in his home. Police say these two intruders had just been released from prison and both had criminal histories.
The two crooks broke into Carlson’s home to steal his painkillers that he was taking for the pains associated with terminal cancer. At least one of the intruders had a gun, but Carlon struggled with the suspect and ended up grabbing his own gun in the home. He shot one of the intruders, 23-year-old Gypsy Watts, who died at the scene.
Three suspects were on the run until deputies caught up with them behind a business in Sandstone.
Carlson, who did not want to take to any reporters about the incident, was cooperating with police and he is not expected to be charged. After all, Minnesota has a Castle Doctrine which allows residents to shoot intruders when they pose a reasonable threat.
