A Phoenix, Arizona man was able to reduce crime all by himself after a 2nd robbery was made at his house in 2 days.
Phoenix police showed up at the home a little after 3am on Friday morning and found the intruder who had been shot to death, identifying him as 30-year-old William Thomas Mackey. Source: Washington Times.
The 77-year-old homeowner told police that this was the second night in a row that his house was burglarized, but this time he was prepared.
When he realized that someone had broken into his house and realized that it was not a family member or someone he knew, he feared for his life and grabbed his shotgun. He fired one shot and struck the intruder who fell to the floor and died at the scene.
Apparently this neighborhood is no stranger to crime. One of the homeowner’s neighbors said that she had been robbed 6 times.
The elderly man who shot the intruder was able to level the playing field by being armed in his home. Hopefully this will make other thieves in the area think twice before breaking into the next house.
Police are still investigating if the two robberies at the man’s home are related, but they are saying that the scene was consistent with a clear case of self-defense.
