When an armed intruder grabbed a man’s wife and forced her into the house at gunpoint, the husband did not just stand idly by. In fact, the Piedmont, South Carolina coroner just stated that it was the intruder who died after being shot 3 times by the homeowner.
According to WYFF.com,
Deputies said the home invasion happened just before 6 p.m. when a man grabbed the woman who lives in the home and tried to force his way into the house while holding her at gunpoint. Deputies said the man put the woman in a choke hold and shoved her to a side door. The woman was able to yell and alerted her husband, Billy Russell McCall, who armed himself with a handgun and confronted the intruder at the door.
The intruder fired at the homeowner and struck him once in the stomach, but the homeowner’s 3 shots to the intruder hit him in the chest, abdomen and leg with the .380 semi-automatic rounds.
The homeowner was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition after surgery. The same cannot be said about the intruder however, who reportedly fled the scene and was dropped off at the same hospital and died a few moments later.
This is yet another defensive gun use which more than likely saved the life of two elderly people who would not have been able to defend themselves had someone not been armed. The great equalizer, even a .380 semi-automatic, was all it took to allow a man to protect his wife from a criminal who broke several gun laws that night.
