Oh, but wait! I thought all of these “assault rifles” (also known as common semi-automatic rifles owned by millions) were only purchased by criminals at gun shows.
An Albuquerque state police car was broken into overnight Tuesday and the thief got away with an AR-15 rifle that was supposed to be equipped with a locking mechanism. Apparently the criminal was capable of disabling the security device since police say the AR-15 was properly secured in the vehicle.
Along with the AR-15 that the news media keeps calling an “assault rifle”, the officer’s badge, commission card and an AR15 magazine were also taken.
While the police are working on some leads in the case, this is yet another example of how criminals who are willing to use guns to break to law will also break the law to get those guns.
Now if only there were a law against breaking into police cars and stealing guns this never would have happened right? This also flies in the face of the theory that only the police should have guns.
