Connecticut recently passed strict gun control laws that required owners of so called “assault rifles” and “high capacity” magazines to register these items with the state. This way it will be easier to confiscate these guns and magazines once the state passes more laws that ban them.
The deadline to register these guns and magazines was January 1st, but there is a problem.
With only 1.5% of Connecticut “high capacity” magazine owners actually registering with the state, some are wondering how millions of firearm magazines could disappear.
A 2011 Office of Legislative Research study found that, “there are over 2.4 million large capacity magazines in Connecticut that originated at the retail level.” This means there are probably even more of these magazines in the state that were not purchased through retail outlets.
Only 38,00o magazines were registered with the state. 38,000 out of 2.4 million? You know anti-gunners in the state have to be freaking out about now.
The same 2011 study found that there were at least 370,000 “assault weapons” owned by Connecticut residents. How many of these firearms were registered with the state by the deadline? Only 50,000.
So it looks like there are untold numbers of CT gun owners who are simply refusing to comply with the recent unconstitutional gun laws and officials are going to have to figure out how to handle this mass revolt.
Hmm, who would have thought that gun owners would be so unwilling to hand over their rights?
But there is a deeper point in all this. The whole reason anti-gun lawmakers in the state passed this law was to make everyone safer after the Sandy Hook shootings right? Well, even if you believed that fallacy you can’t argue with the fact that the law has been a complete flop.
Gun registration has once again proven to be pointless unless authorities actually plan to confiscate these firearms.
