This story could have ended a great deal worse. After coming home from vacation this man named Mike could do nothing but pray after he was shot multiple times before his house was robbed. This is why even at home, I try to keep my firearm by my side.
Mike said that he prayed out loud after he was shot. “Lord, this is, I guess, the moment I will meet you today … if it is not your will, I am ready to stay,” he said.
Mike, his wife, and two small children had just gotten back from vacation when they heard a knock on the door. Mike answered the door and saw two younger men that said they were having car trouble and needed to borrow a jack.
That is when Mike’s wife, Whitney, saw one guy pull out a gun and point it at Mike. Whitney grabbed their 6 month old and ran into the back yard to hide and call 911.
Mike tried to block the door and protect his young son that was taking a nap upstairs. He was shot three times in the left leg. That is when two more thugs joined the two at the door and they started hauling their possessions out the front door.
One of the thieves chased Whitney into the back yard, grabbed her cellphone and hung it up. “I heard footsteps of someone running and two more shots that were aimed at me and my daughter,” she said.
Thankfully, the children and the wife were uninjured. However, this is not the normal situation. Kidnapping, rape, murder, or a combo of that list can happen in situations exactly like this. No gun, just a prayer. Thankfully the prayers worked this time. Arm yourself Mike for that this situation could get much worse, or even, maybe, happen again.
Keep them locked and loaded friend, so that we never have to report you as a statistic of deceased and unarmed.
