This story is less about guns and more about freedom today. The city of Huntington Beach has ordered a local bar to take down its sign that thanks our veterans for our freedom, and now the owner is fighting back.
“Thank a veteran for your freedom!” says a large sign perched above Johnny’s Booze and Pool. Vets love it and make up a significant part of the establishment’s clientele.
“I love this place. The sign gives me the pride back that I lost … I struggled a lot when I first came back,” an Army vet told CBS2.
All it took was someone complaining about the sign and soon it was ordered to be taken down or the owner will have to pay a $940 fine.
And it’s not as if the sign is new or was just put up. It has been there for over a decade.
The owners have setup a Facebook account to garner support to help them keep their sign.
“I can understand city ordinances, but it’s been up there for 10 years. I don’t understand why it’s a problem now,” one one veteran said.
