In Bakersfield, California a homeowner fired his handgun into the ground three times to stop three men from stealing his appliances, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The 30-year-old businessman left his house to go to work. Shortly after 3 men pulled up in a truck and began grabbing appliances and items from the man’s yard.
But when the homeowner remembered that he forgot his laptop charger he turned around and headed back home only to find the 3 men taking his belongings.
The burglars would have just drove off or left the property, but this homeowner was a concealed carry permit holder. He pulled out his firearm and fired 3 shots into the ground. He did this to not only stop the intruders and get their attention but also to wake up the neighbors so that they would call police for him.

All three suspects were arrested by police.
This story comes just after a man was charged by police for firing a warning shot to stop a fugitive from breaking into his house (read story here). He also had his AR-15 taken away. That man also fired into the ground, but the police were persnickety and said that the high velocity round could have ricocheted and hurt someone. But since the man was a combat veteran trying to protect his property and stop a lawless criminal, we believe like most of you that he should get his gun back.
