We just reported about a police officer attempting shooting a dog last week and it looks like it happened again. But this time the interaction with police was captured on video.
Texas farmer, Cole Middleton, called police and waited for 3 hours after a robbery at his house. When Rains County Deputy Jerred Dooley, finally did show up he was greeted by the farmer’s dog, a blue heeler.
According to the deputy the dog charged at him and the officer shot him in self-defense. While talking with police Middleton said that the dog never bit anyone in his life and was probably just barking like any good guard dog would do. Weighing only about 30 pounds, this dog was probably not the most threatening dog in the world.
After shooting the dog the officer refused to shoot him again to end his pain and suffering. The farmer pleaded with the deputy to shoot him again, and since Middleton’s guns were stolen he was not able to do it himself. He ended up having to drown the dog in a bucket to end his suffering.
“What I’m saying is the man pulls up without cause and shoots my dog,” Middleton can be heard telling officers in the video.
“Your dog charged me, buddy,” the deputy replies.
“No, no,” Middleton shoots back.
“I got it on dash cam man; your dog charged me,” the deputy claims.
“You’re invading her property, but she wouldn’t bite you! she’s never bitten anybody!” the man shouts.
However, according to an autopsy from the vet, the dog was shot in the back of the head, with the trajectory of the bullet going toward the nose. This would imply that the dog was shot while retreating or facing away from the officer.
