As more gun laws take effect on the 1st of January more gun owners are finding out just how many of their 2nd amendment rights are being stripped away.
Washington D.C. gun owners may be up for a rude awakening when they find out that they are in serious trouble if they don’t RE-register their guns that were already registered before.
These D.C. gun owners will be forced to be fingerprinted at the police station as if they were common criminals guilty of a crime. But then again, D.C. has basically made it a crime to own a gun, so there is no real surprise here.
It is suspected that there are over 50,000 gun owners in the district who have already registered their guns between 1976 and 2010. If these gun owners do not re-register their guns they will be turned into criminals.
According to NBC Washington,
“A person who fails to renew their firearms registration within 90 days of the deadline (meaning, 90 day renewal period + 90 day grace period = 180 days total) will have their firearm registration canceled, will be in possession of an unregistered firearm, and may face criminal charges punishable by a fine up to $1,000 or 1 year in jail, or both,” Crump wrote in an email.
This re-registering requirement applies to ALL guns, handguns and long guns alike.
After going to the police station to be fingerprinted gun owners are being told they won’t have to ever do that again. Then again, they weren’t supposed to have to RE-register their guns either. So it’s up to D.C. residents if they are going to believe that one.
The district is living a delusional dream if it thinks that criminals are going to come down to a police station to re-register their guns. But while forcing the law abiding gun owners to be fingerprinted and treated like those criminals is criminal itself, believing that this will do anything to control gun violence is outrageous.
It’s obvious that this is an attack on 2nd amendment rights NOT on gun violence. People control not gun control is the agenda here.
So now D.C. residents have a choice: be treated like a common criminal at a police station while having guns re-registered or ignore the January 1st deadline to re-register guns and also be treated like a criminal. Either way, it’s clear how D.C. views gun owners.
