Leave it to Eric Holder’s DoJ to find a loophole in the system that allows them to put a hold on the evidence from the George Zimmerman trial.
According to the Daily Mail,
“The U.S. Department of Justice, overseen by Attorney General Eric Holder, has ordered the Sanford, Florida police department to keep possession of all the evidence from George Zimmerman’s second-degree murder trial – including the exonerated neighborhood watch volunteer’s gun.”
As another sign of Holder’s contempt of the jury’s decision the DoJ is clearly satisfying the demands of the NAACP by moving forward on the investigation of George Zimmerman. The Department of Justice is investigating Zimmerman for possible civil rights violations, even though he was declared “not guilty” for murder and manslaughter of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman was supposed to get his gun back by the end of the month, but with this “holding” of evidence it means that everything from the gun right down to the Skittles and ice tea will be detained for further investigation.
But it should be obvious to anyone who is paying attention to this story that it’s really all about Zimmerman’s gun. There would be even more outrage and rioting in the streets if George were allowed to have his gun back, and that just makes the cause for “justice for Trayvon” look bad.
Under Florida law, a not-guilty verdict means that Zimmerman will get his gun back. But since it will now be held as evidence he will only be able to replace it with something else until this all clears up.
Th DoJ has made this personal, even gone as far as setting up a special email for people to send in their “evidence” that Zimmerman is racist. Without this element the civil suit really has no foothold, so look for Zimmerman to be labeled as a violently racist lunatic by everyone who wants to see him “pay” for his crime of using a gun to stop himself from being pounded into the concrete.
For anyone that actually watched the trial, it should have been very obvious that this was not really about race as we were told by the overly-hyped media outlets. In fact, it should have been disappointing for anyone watching the trial who wanted to make an example out of Zimmerman as a racist thug who just wanted to shoot blacks.
But since there are some that will never let a tragedy go to waste we have to watch another oversold story take place while gun violence in Chicago and D.C. escalate even in the midst of the strictest gun control in the nation.
Distraction much? How about the fact that the Zimmerman defense was NEVER about the “Stand Your Ground” law but that’s what Holder and Stevie Wonder have been going after while citing the trial as a reason for its removal.
