This is not a story about a defensive gun use. This is a story about what the anti-gun crowd actually recommends when you are faced with a bad gun with a gun: Run away and leave your pregnant girlfriend to fend for herself.
Gunssavelives reported on this story today and we thought it would be a great reminder of the “duty to retreat” that gun control activists love to promote.
In this story a pregnant woman and her boyfriend were about to leave their house because the woman had just gone into labor. But before they could drive off in their car, they were approached by 3 armed men who demanded money and the couple’s car. The men were armed with 2 shotguns and a handgun, which they obviously bought from a gun show.
So what did the boyfriend do? He ran from the scene as fast as he could. His excuse was that he was going to get help, but what he did was leave his girlfriend in labor by herself to face multiple armed robbers.
The Baltimore Sun reported,
One of the men then told the woman who was standing outside the car: “Open the door. Go get the money. Do you want to die? Do you think we playing?,” according the police report. The woman told police said the men kept asking: “Where’s the key?”
The woman told the men she only had a car key and handed it over, police said. Officers arrived and the suspects fled in the victim’s car, police said. The third man — who has not been identified — left in another car, the woman told police.
The woman was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center. Police did not provide additional information about her condition.
Gun control advocates are always pushing for the “duty to retreat” in cases like this. But this is one woman who is fortunate to be alive after being stranded by a boyfriend who was not equipped to defend his girl or child.
