One armed thief was critically wounded after being shot in the head. The thief that had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest was shot my an elderly husband after the thug tried to rob his aging bride.
Police responded to a call after 4:30 p.m. yesterday where they found a 27 year old thief with many gunshot wounds including a shot to the head.
The critically injured thief showed up to the place where the elderly couple run a rental property business. He pulled out his weapon and pointed to the wife demanding cash. He apparently did not see the husband in the next room as he retrieved his own firearm to give swift retribution.
He feared for his wife’s safety as he leveled his pistol and fired multiple shots striking the thug multiple times. EMS did come to take the thief to Eskenazi Hospital where he is in critical condition.
IMPD Sgt. Brian Gabel told an Indianapolis Star reporter at the scene that the robbery suspect had multiple open warrants for his arrest in Indianapolis, including strangulation, dealing drugs, possession of a firearm without a license and resisting law enforcement, according to online court records.
According to the neighbors, the neighborhood itself is relatively quiet and sleepy. The elderly couple run Home Sweet Home rental properties from a small office there on the east side of Indianapolis.. Many neighbors were shocked to hear of the incident and will increase the vigilance of the neighborhood watch.
We applaud the quick decision by the elderly husband in saving his wife of many years, and ask that he continue to be vigilant in this day and age. What do you think of this man’s actions?
