The gun owners of Washington D.C. must either be the most patient people in the world or the most outraged. I would say the latter has to be the case after hearing about this latest gun control ploy to fingerprint legal firearm owners.
Washington Times writer, Emily Miller, has been a strong advocate for gun rights in the district. She recently informed her readers that D.C. residents who also happened to be gun owners might soon be subjected to the same treatment as common crooks.
From her Washington Times article:
The 1,800 or so criminals who have killed, robbed or assaulted innocent people with guns in the District of Columbia so far this year were hauled into the police station to be fingerprinted, photographed and to undergo a criminal-background check.
Now, legal gun owners who have committed no crime are getting the exact same treatment. That is neither constitutional, nor fair. The latest gun-control scheme that starts on Jan. 1 will force every legal firearm owner in the nation’s capital to go in person to police headquarters to renew their registration certificates.
The Metropolitan Police Department filed proposed rules last week to enact this absurd law, and citizens have until Dec. 15 to comment on the regulations.
So since when does owning a gun constitute a crime? Are anti-gunners so ignorant on how many gun owners kill NO ONE every day that they see the 2nd amendment as a threat to society?
This is just another example of D.C. being so incapable of stopping crime in the city that they have just given up and opted to go after the ones who actually do obey the laws, law abiding firearm owners.
Having some of the strictest gun control in the country and also some of the worst crime in the country D.C. has provided ample proof that gun control does not really stop criminals, it merely restricts the rights of law abiding gun owners.
Remember, gun control is NOT about making us all safer. It’s main objective is to disarm us. And treating all gun owners as ordinary criminals is a good first step to reach this objective.
