The clerk at a Shelby, North Carolina gas station was glad he carried a gun when a robber came in to the store armed with a can of pepper spray.
We are often told by anti-gun activists that we don’t need guns. Just a can of pepper spray is all we need to defend ourselves. But when a man attempted to rob the gas station armed with pepper spray himself, it was a handgun that made him realize he was outmatched.
According to Fox Carolina,
Cleveland County deputies said just after 10 a.m. a masked man armed with a canister of pepper spray entered Padgett’s BP gas station on Polkville Road in Shelby, NC.
They said the store owner immediately realized he was being robbed and drew his gun from its holster and pointed it at the suspect.
The suspect ran from the store, and the owner followed him, according to the sheriff’s office.
A person pulling into the store parking lot saw the suspect fleeing and followed him in his vehicle.
They said the man was able to detain the suspect until deputies arrived.
Not a single shot had to be fired. And once again a gun was used by a law abiding citizen to stop a crime and prevent injury. These stories are often not reported on the news at all because of their lack of excitement or drama, but this is the most common way in which guns are used to save lives and this is why so many people choose to arm themselves.
