Four armed home invaders thought that a house was empty for an easy rob, and they were partially right. The homeowner is a truck driver so he was not home, but his brother, brother’s girlfriend, and little child were home.
The four Lithonia have been arrested for the home invasion. The homeowner’s girlfriend was 17 year old Laurel Carithers. She along with with her real boyfriend conspired and robbed the homeowner when she knew he would be out of town.
The story begins with the brother waking up at 3 a.m. with a loud bang. That is when he noticed that the bedroom door had been forced open. He shut the door immediately and went looking for his pistol since someone was probably in the house.
He quickly found his weapon and looked out the bedroom window. That is when he saw the group of people by their cars in the driveway. The brother told police that feared they would return inside when he saw one of the thugs fire a gun. He returned fire. The invaders scrambled to get into their cars and leave.
The police eventually came and found a .380 in the bushes, and the front door kicked in. When the officers called the homeowner and explained what had happened, he said he would return as soon as possible, but he had a suspicion that his “girlfriend” could be a culprit. She had asked repeatedly if he would be home that night, to which he replied no.
Detectives found the 17 year old girlfriend living with her 19 year old boyfriend an an apartment on Tree View Court in Lithonia. They also found another two people present that they suspect were also involved.
All suspects were taken to DeKalb County Jail and booked on home invasion charges. The two found with the young Bonnie and Clyde were found to have outstanding warrants on them.
Moral of the story is make sure your aim is good, because you may need it at 3 a.m.
