Last month we reported that 5 times in a 2 week stretch homeowners defended their homes against home invaders in Detroit. Now it seems like the trend of homeowners refusing to become victims is continuing.
Homeowners have fatally shot intruders 7 times in the last 7 weeks, and according to the Huffington Post, “In the first three months of 2014, the city’s property and violent crime rates are down overall compared to 2013. With 45 homicides this year to date, the murder rate is down 23 percent.”
In the most recent case, a 47-year-old Detroit homeowner shot at 2 teens who broke into his house in the middle of the night. One of the intruders died and the other was shot in the leg and will not be breaking into any more houses any time soon.
Police Officer Jennifer Moreno said Thursday,
“The citizens of Detroit are very tired of being bullied by these thugs, for lack of a better word. They’re defending themselves and their property and they have every right to do so.”
It should be noted that two of the self defense shootings were carried out by women, more proof that the freedom to keep and bear arms has done more for woman’s rights than anything an anti-gunner has proposed.
“We’ve been very supportive of citizens that are arming themselves,” said Moreno. “They are law-abiding citizens. These are the ones who are in their domain and inside their homes, and if you can’t have peace at home, where can you?”
Here is some video of at least 3 homeowners shooting intruders last month in Detroit as homeowners take their city back:
This is what happens when you allow law abiding citizens to exercise their 2nd amendment rights. Crooks and criminals are now on high alert in Detroit. It’s not the police that is putting them on edge; it’s the knowledge that the homeowner on the other side of the door just might be a gun owner who is ready to defend life and property.
