Many of us feel that the Second Amendment is our right to carry, but this man in New Bedford was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm without a permit.
21 year old Bruno Ferreira was arrested after police executed a search warrant on his residence. The found him in the basement of his apartment on Division Street around 3 p.m. on June 27th with a loaded Glock.
When police burst into his home he fled into another room to discard the weapon so that he would not be harmed.
He is being charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a large capacity firearm or feeding device.
Ferreira was arraigned Monday and was ordered held without bail — pending the results of a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday, according to the District Attorney’s office.
No other details can be found on why police had a warrant for him. There are no other charges by police at this time.
What would you do in this scenario if you were Bruno?
