The man in this story lost his wife due to an irresponsible gun owner who lived 2 doors down, but at least he was able to save his son and himself by shooting the intruding neighbor. We wish he would have been able to shoot the neighbor before he was able to get any shots off, but we don’t know all the details yet.
LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) – Police say a husband involved in a deadly triple shooting in Leander throughout the weekend that left his wife and a neighbor dead will not be facing charges.
Williamson County Sheriff’s spokesman John Foster said Forest Tervin’s situation was one of self-defense, adding that 45-year-old neighbor Ronald Berry came into the Tervin family home and began shooting at both Forest and Kimberly Tervin, 40.
It all started as an argument between the neighbors on Kathleen Lane just after midnight on Saturday, according to police.
Foster said Berry had come over to the home earlier in the evening and that an argument soon became physical.
“Berry left the residence and went to his home, located at 604 Kathleen, and retrieved a handgun,” said Foster on Sunday. “Berry then returned to the scene and forced his way inside the home.”
Deputies responding to the report of shots fired found both Kimberly and Berry dead of gunshot wounds.
Forest, 45, was taken to a local hospital with two gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening.
The case is still under investigation. See video of what happened here:
