Police say a homeowner who shot an intruder in the face at 1723 Pebble Terrace Tuesday morning knew the man before the shooting.
Their relationship is still being investigated, but police say the homeowner was awakened by his dog and then said he found a man wearing a mask and holding a baseball bat at the front door, police spokeswoman Jennifer Monroe said.
The homeowner and the intruder struggled before the homeowner went into the kitchen and got a handgun and fired three shots. One shot hit the intruder in the face. Names of those involved in the incident have not been released. Check NewsOK.com for updates.
7:50 a.m. EDMOND — A homeowner told police he shot an intruder Tuesday morning, and a man has shown up at a nearby apartment with gunshot wounds, said police spokeswoman Jennifer Monroe.
About 6:50 a.m. the homeowner at 1723 Pebble Terrace fired three rounds at a masked man seen holding a baseball bat, he told police.
The intruder ran from the home and showed up a few minutes later at the Bryant Place Apartments, 1720 E Second St., nearby. A woman said her boyfriend was bleeding there.
Police are continuing to investigate. The man shot has been taken to a hospital, Monroe reports.
