A homeowner shot a man during an apparent attempted robbery on Saturday night..
According to Wood TV and with the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Department, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of West VW Avenue, outside of Schoolcraft.
Authorities say the homeowner noticed two people outside and then heard someone breaking in. The homeowner then grabbed a gun and shot a suspect out of fear.
When the gun went off, the other suspect outside the home took off, but was later arrested by officers from the Vicksburg and Schoolcraft police departments.
The robbery suspect with a gunshot wound was transported to the hospital. That person’s condition was not available Monday, but authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.
The suspects — a 26- and 27-year-old from Kalamazoo — will each face a felony charge of first-degree home invasion. A judge set a bond of $100,000 on each pending arraignment. Their names have not yet been released.
The homeowner is not expected to face any charges. He was in a clearly defensive posture protecting himself and his family, authorities said.
