President Obama’s new year’s resolution is one he has been wanting to push into effect his entire presidency, and he has unashamedly used every and any gun incident as an excuse to do so. In fact, he even used the recent terrorist attack in San Bernardino as a reason to strip more guns from American citizens. Go figure.
He is once again threatening to use executive action in order to make his dream for Chicago-like gun control a nation-wide thing.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch is expected to meet with President Obama on January 4th. The two will discuss ways in which the president can wield his powers and twist current laws into getting what he wants. You can be sure, every loophole will be exploited.
Just hours into 2016, President Obama renewed his pledge for sweeping gun control in his final year of office.
According to The Washington Post, “The idea of requiring informal gun dealers to obtain a license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and perform background checks on potential buyers first came up two years ago, but was shelved over legal concerns.” Obama now believes his attorneys have found a way that requirements for licensure can survive legal scrutiny.
Just the fact the the president has his attorneys searching night and day for ways to exploit the law and bypass congress in order to get his way on gun control shows this is more about his legacy than keeping anyone safe.
During his first weekly radio address of 2016 Obama said:
A few months ago, I directed my team at the White House to look into any new actions I can take to help reduce gun violence. And on Monday, I’ll meet with our Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, to discuss our options.
Because I get too many letters from parents, and teachers, and kids, to sit around and do nothing. I get letters from responsible gun owners who grieve with us every time these tragedies happen; who share my belief that the Second Amendment guarantees a right to bear arms; and who share my belief we can protect that right while keeping an irresponsible, dangerous few from inflicting harm on a massive scale.
Apparently he doesn’t get enough letters from people like us. People who can’t afford an armed security detail to protect us and who rely on firearms to keep our families safe every day. Apparently he hasn’t read those letters written by moms and dads who stopped intruders and would-be thieves from taking life and property. Or maybe those letters are carefully selected for him.
What should really irritate every red-blooded American is that President Obama actually made this comment: “my belief that the Second Amendment guarantees a right to bear arms”. IF the president actually believed that why is he insisting we need much more than just the constitution to guarantee this freedom? Why is he still looking for ways to make it harder and more expensive for law abiding citizens to own firearms? The answer should be obvious.
The truth of the matter is that NONE of the president’s gun control actions would have actually stopped any of the recent mass shootings, and he knows this. Just the fact that he is still using a terrorist attack as a reason for more civilian disarmament should show any common-sense thinker that this is not really about safety but about legacy.
Here’s a great little tidbit from Breitbart:
None of the actions in the upcoming executive gun control would have prevented the heinous April 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech, the November 2009 attack on Fort Hood, or the December 2012 attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School. Nor would the two have prevented the high profile shootings at the Aurora movie theater, the DC Navy Yard, the Lafayette Grand Theatre, Umpqua Community College, Colorado Springs on Halloween, or the San Bernardino terror attack. But the executive controls will further infringe upon law-abiding citizens’ ability to exercise Second Amendment rights.
