We never get tired of reporting these self-defense stories, and the only problem is that we don’t have time to report every single one of them. According to KGW, a knife wielding intruder was stopped by a gun owner who held him until the police arrived. (Watch VIDEO at the end of the post)
Dan Strasser woke up at 6am to the sound of his dog whining at something. He though perhaps that the 3-year-old deaf dog found a squirrel or skunk that sneaked into the house. But when he went to investigate he found a male intruder in his living room stealing his laptop and other electronics.
Strasser then shouted for his girlfriend to bring him his gun, hoping even letting the intruder know he had a gun would scare him off.
The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Thomas Lowell, then ran into the garage where Strasser cornered him. Lowell pulled out a knife and threatened the homeowner, but when Strasser revealed that he actually did have a gun in his hands, Lowell dropped the knife and resigned himself to just wait for the police to arrive.
“This sounds weird. I was thankful to have a gun because what that did is make sure nobody got hurt. I don’t know what he would do. I’m a fairly old guy so he could have thought I can get through you, but he decided not to do that when I had a weapon,” Strasser said.
So without firing a single shot, and without anyone getting hurt, a gun owner was able to use his firearm to stop a criminal and prevent his loss of property or even his life. After all, when an intruder threatens you with a knife you have to assume that he will use it.
Arriving officers found Lowell on the ground and arrested him without incident. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and parole violation.
This is not a story you will hear from the main stream media. Perhaps that’s because it’s not dramatic enough or perhaps it’s because it does not fit their anti-gun agenda. But the truth of the matter is that law abiding gun owners stop crimes and prevent the loss of life. We will keep on reporting stories like this, because we know that many other places just ignore them. Watch VIDEO of the this news story below. (notice how they focus more on the dog than the gun)
