Decatur, Alabama police had just issued an ex-husband a warning for trespassing on his ex-wife’s property. But only 5 minutes later the ex-husband, Gary Lynn McClimans II, was back at the house trying to break in to get at his ex-wife.
McClimans was trying to kick in the door of the home in an attempted home invasion when his ex-wife’s brother, who was in the home, grabbed his gun and fired two shots at McClimans as he entered the house.
Two shots struck McClimans in the chest and he had to be airlifted to a local hospital.
This deranged ex-husband was not going to let a police warning stop him from breaking the law and putting lives in danger. This is just another clear example of how relying on the police and 911 for your protection is simply not enough.
Who knows what would have happened if the ex-husband was not faced with a firearm when he broke into the home, but thankfully we will never have to know thanks to the brother who had enough sense and enough guts to protect his sister from the imminent threat.
