Since Bernie Sanders is rising in the polls and attempting to dethrone Hillary’s once bulwark position, it’s only obvious that Clinton would fire back at the Vermont Senator.
She has been going after his stance on guns, and even though the Democratic candidates don’t even understand their own positions on the 2nd amendment, it’s helpful to look back at what they actually said.
The Sanders statement was made back in July, and thanks to thelibertarianrepublic.com for reminding us what the Senator actually believes about gun rights.
On NBC’s Meet the Press, Sanders called for stricter gun control and made a statement that should make every gun owner listen up.
Watch the video or read the transcript below the video in case you thought your ears deceived you.
“Nobody should have a gun who has a criminal background, who’s involved in domestic abuse situations. People should not have guns who are going to hurt other people, who are unstable. And second of all I believe that we need to make sure that certain types of guns used to kill people, exclusively, not for hunting, they should not be sold in the United States of America, and we have a huge loophole now with gun shows that should be eliminated.”
So if a gun was made to kill someone it should be banned? Does the Senator think that some guns were just meant to maim, injure, or scare off intruders? Maybe he’s been listening to Shotgun Joe.
It sounds like the ONLY gun Sanders will allow is a hunting rifle, but even that doesn’t make sense if you actually listen to what he said. After all, a hunting rifle can certainly kill and often has a greater ability to do so.
Yes, guns were made to kill people, the very people who intend to do harm to others. We protect our families by shooting the intruders, murderers and rapists who threaten our existence. And since each life is protected by the constitution the 2nd amendment allows us to ensure that it’s not just the “bad guys” that have all the guns.
A recent poll by the IBD showed that 55% of adults own a gun for self-defense and protection. A firearm would not offer much protection if it didn’t actually stop the bad guy. Otherwise we would just use paintball guns and cyan pepper.
What’s even more alarming about all this is that Bernie Sanders looks like an NRA advocate compared to Hillary Clinton. Ok, maybe not an NRA advocate, but you get my point.
