Apparently it’s not very difficult for criminals to get guns in D.C. with shootings and gun related violence being among the highest in the country. But for law abiding citizens, getting a gun in D.C. can be one of the most frustrating and laborious tasks one can imagine. In this video below, Emily Miller gives powerful testimony of all the red tape and months of waiting it took for her to finally get a gun, which she could only keep at the house. This is a MUST SEE video for all of us fighting for gun rights in every part of the U.S.A.
Emily Miller writes for the Washington Times and has informed her readers of the difficulties in trying to get a gun in the district. And there is a reason D.C. wants to make it so difficult for citizens to obtain guns. They simply don’t want them to have them. And history has proven that the more difficult the process the fewer people will even endeavor to try to get a gun.
Emily ended up paying $435 just in fees to get her gun, that is without even actually buying the gun. And when she did end up buying a gun (out of D.C. of course because you can’t buy a gun IN D.C.) it had a high capacity magazine. Of course 13 rounds is fairly standard for handguns, but with the law in D.C. being you can only have magazines with 10 round capacities she had to get magazines that fit that criteria.
It’s hard to imagine how these regulations, fees, paperwork, and general hoops one must jump through will actually make the city safer. As Emily mentioned, a crime in D.C. has never been committed with a registered handgun. But with violent crime UP 50% in 2012, it’s obvious that the one’s using guns illegally are the criminals who get their guns with ZERO paperwork and with ZERO waiting periods.
The only ones these crazy regulations keep safe are the criminals who can break into houses with fairly good chances that the homeowner is not armed. And even if they are armed, it’s not like they are able to spend much time at the shooting range.
So what do you think? Is 22 pages of paper, 17 steps, and $435 in fees too much just to be able to exercise HALF of the 2nd amendment? Remember they are only allowed to “keep” arms in D.C. (if they can survive the process), they aren’t allowed to “bear” them. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think of this video.
