Even though the anti-gun crowd is not only ignoring this story but also totally confused by it, gun control supporters are probably more amazed that no one was hurt at this peacefully rally.
With over 200 men, women, and children open carrying their loaded rifles in Temple, Texas it was a scene that probably would have completely freaked out any of the main stream journalists that are used to labeling gun owners as dangerous people.
The “Come and Take It” rally was in response to the arrest of Army Master Sgt. CJ Grisham when he was openly carrying his AR-15, which is totally legal in Texas by the way. But when a “concerned citizen” was on a Boy Scout hike with his son he saw Grisham and his AR-15 and reported it to police who in turn decided to arrest the rifle-carrying Sgt.
Gun owners in Temple and the surrounding areas didn’t need ANOTHER reason to get fired up about gun rights, but this unlawful arrest prompted them to put together this rally seen in the video below.
The organizer of the event, Murdoch Pizgatti, didn’t want the pro-gun state of Texas to turn into a New York or New Jersey where lawmakers are ban-happy, so he decide this rally would be a great way for gun owners to show their support of the 2nd amendment. He said,
“I’ve seen the stop and frisk videos in New York and heard about things like that but this was stop and frisk, it was disarm, handcuffed, it was the arrest and it was right down the road here in Texas. You know that shouldn’t happen here, that is way too close to home. That was my line in the sand and I knew it had been crossed at that moment so I got up and did something.”
The rally consisted of some food and music and even a march to the Temple Police Department where hopefully the arresting officer had a great view. It should be noted that some of the officers from the department actually helped with the rally in setting up road blocks and making sure everyone enjoyed this peaceful protest.
In a time when children are being suspended for bringing Nerf guns to school and even saying the word “gun” on the bus, it’s a foreign concept for some gun control fanatics to understand how an armed society can be a polite society. And if they took their heads out of the sand long enough to see the facts they would be scratching those heads that no one was hurt or killed at a rally where hundreds of people gathered with what “they” call “assault rifles”.
