An instructor in Los Angeles believes he is being punished in what is known at the school as “teacher jail” because of a couple science projects that involved propulsion devices. But because they were called “guns” the school took irrational action against the teacher.
Here we have yet another case of the our educational system’s “zero tolerance policy” turning into more anti-gun propaganda that will neither protect or help students. What this does do is help to demonize gun owners and anything associated with guns.
According to CBS in Los Angeles,
Greg Schiller, a science teacher at Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, was suspended in February, the same month the students entered their projects in the competition.
KCAL9’s Jeff Nguyen reported one of the entries was an air cannon and the other was an electromagnetic coil gun, which freshman Asa Ferguson submitted and was later confiscated.
The school has not yet explained to Schiller why he is being disciplined and is refusing to comment on the matter, which is typical for anti-gun activists who don’t want their words being used against them.
Meanwhile, the students who love and support their teacher are protesting his dismissal by wearing duct tape on their mouths until Schiller is reinstated.
