In this case the story made local news, but don’t expect to see this defensive gun use on network news. Surveillance video shows 2 jewelry thieves using a hammer to break the glass of a jewelry counter in Gwinnett County, GA.
The criminals thought it would be an easy smash and grab, but according to My Fox Atlanta, the thieves ran from the store the instant they saw they were outmatched against a store owner with a gun.
One of the men was able to grab a watch, but he dropped it on the way out when he was running for his life from the good guy with the gun.
The police are asking for the public’s help in catching these guys. They tried to cover their faces, but the surveillance footage in the video below shows enough for them to be recognized.
Thanks to an armed store owner, these guys didn’t get away with anything but some airtime on a local news network, and hopefully they will soon be rewarded with 3 hots and a cot as well.
You can fault the store owner for not firing any shots, but his gun did the intended job: To stop the robbery and keep himself and his employees safe.
