If President Obama really wants to address gun violence in America he has the perfect opportunity to do so. It’s doubtful that any organization has done more to help prosecute violent criminals than the NRA, and the organization is constantly seeking to improve responsible gun ownership.
So this should be a win-win.
“Ill meet you for a one-on-one, one-hour debate with a mutual agreed upon moderator on any network that will take it,” said Wayne LaPierre in the NRA’s recent video. “No pre-screened questions and no gas-bag answers. Americans will judge for themselves who they trust.”
Even though I’m awfully tired of the president’s same-old rhetoric on gun control, this is a debate I would love to see, as long as the moderator didn’t dictate the debate.
Will Obama take the challenge or will he leave an empty podium to make a silent statement? What do you think?
