A 90-year-old laundromat owner was not about to become a victim when a robber came in and demanded money. Instead of giving the robber any money, the elderly man grabbed his gun and sent the would-be-thief running.
Here is an excerpt of that call from Fox 45:
911 Dispatcher: “Did he take any money?”
Victim: “No. No. When he shoved me, I jumped up and went for my gun and when I went for my gun I said I’ll blow your (expletive) brains out and he was gone.”“I want to shake the man’s hand,” Tom Mauro said. Mauro owns the Third Base Drive Thru.
In September, Mauro didn’t hesitate to protect his business when two masked men came in to rob him.
Mauro grabbed his gun and shot one of the robbers in the chest.
As business owners, Mauro said they have the right to protect themselves, their employees and property.
“I work seven days a week here and I really don’t want people coming in here taking what doesn’t belong to them. I won’t put up with it,” he said.
Hicks, the laundromat owner, said this isn’t the first time he has been targeted. In 2010, he was beat up and robbed inside his business.
“When I went for my gun he run out the door. He never got nothing,” Hicks said.
Gun control activist would rather have seen this robber get away with the robbery and the elderly man get robbed of his hard earned money. But because the 90-year-old was able and ready to exercise his 2nd amendment rights he stopped a crime without a single shot ever being fired.
