This commercial (at bottom of post) that doesn’t even show a gun or a single round of ammunition has been banned from the ad space during the Super Bowl. The NFL has raked in millions of dollars for 30 second ad spots during the big game, but now one of the top-notch gun makers in the country has been told it cannot air its commercial.
Daniel Defense has operations in South Carolina and Georgia and is well known for their quality AR-15 style rifles and other products that are known around the world. According to Guns and Ammo the gun maker was given an extremely poor excuse for not being able to show its ad during the Super Bowl.
According to a statement from FOX to Daniel Defense, “Unfortunately, we cannot accept your commercial in football/Super Bowl spots due to the rules the NFL itself has set into place for your company’s category.”The NFL’s Advertising Policy addresses several Prohibited Advertising Categories, including guidelines for ads featuring alcohol, video games, movies, prescription drugs, and, of course, firearms.
Sound like a double-standard to you? Well you’re not alone. The same organization that will give ad time to violent movies and video games will not allow a completely innocuous commercial about a man merely talking about defending his family.
It should be painfully obvious that this is NOT really about the NFL’s policy on prohibited categories but more about their stance on gun rights. We reported not too long ago about off-duty cops being disarmed at NFL games this season.
It’s hard to see why anyone would be against this commercial unless they were staunchly against gun rights and trying to make a political statement against guns in general.
Watch the commercial below that was banned from the Super Bowl and share this video like crazy. Since we can’t give the kind of audience that the Super Bowl brings we might as well get as many eyeballs on this thing as possible. And they won’t have to pay a dime.
Maybe it’s the logo of Daniel Defense that is causing the issue with the NFL. After all, the silhouette of the DDM4 rifle is the only depiction of a gun in the entire ad. I saw more guns than this in the last trailer for Red 2.
