GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio — Criminals should start taking note that breaking into the house of a gun owner, and a Vietnam Vet at that, is probably a very bad idea.
Last night, a man presumably looking for prescription pills to steal, broke into the wrong house. The homeowner, Carl Wray, was sleeping on the couch when he woke up to a noise coming from the bathroom. So what did he do? He grabbed his shotgun and found the burglar, Nathan Unroe (26), with a very surprised look on his face.
“He tried to move past me, and I took the gun barrel and hit him in the ribs and knocked him into the bathtub,” Wray said. “He started to move, and I told him if he moved one more time, you’re dead.”
Unroe sat in the bathtub at gun point until the police arrived, and he must have been relieved to see the police after having to deal with a Vet ready to defend his home and family.
Neighbors said that they would do anything to protect their community, some saying that have guns to protect their families as well.
Police say the burglar broke in through the back door.
They also said that when they asked Unroe what he was doing there at the house, he said he was simply walking home and that he lived a few of miles down the block. He also told deputies he didn’t know anyone at the home.
Unroe is being held in the Gallia County Jail on a burglary charge.
