Following the advice of the Vice President is not supposed to get you arrested, but that’s exactly happened to one Washington man who is refusing to back off his claims that Joe Biden is responsible for his arrest.
Back in July we reported on this story involving a Vancouver, Washington man who was arrested for following Joe Biden’s advice by firing a shotgun in the air to scare off 3 people who were trying to break into his car at 3am.
Well now it seems that Jeffrey Barton is not backing down from his comments asking for Joe Biden to apologize for his arrest. Barton still plans to plead not guilty and has refused a plea deal. He wants to take this case before a jury.
If you remember Joe Biden gave the advice to buy a shotgun and fire a couple blasts in the air to scare off any possible intruders.
When Barton was first arrested he said that he was doing exactly what the Vice President said to do. Under his jacket in court, Barton wore a t-shirt that said “Joe Biden Owes Me”.
According to Columbian.com,
Although Barton said the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has offered him a plea deal, he said that he will not admit wrongdoing.
“I wouldn’t be pushing this hard if I thought I had any guilt,” he said. “I was protecting my family. I was within my Second Amendment right. I chose not to take a life that night. I fired my gun in the air.”
Barton also said that the whole issue could have been avoided if the Clark County Sheriff’s Office would have listened to neighbors’ complaints about a nearby drug house.
