Apparently, following our vice president’s advice on firearms can get you in trouble with the law. Who knew? According to KOIN, a resident of Vancouver, WA was just following Vice President Joe Biden’s advice when he fired his shotgun into the air (exactly as Biden said to do) to scare off multiple people who he thought were breaking into his vehicles.
Jeffrey Barton woke up at 3 in the morning to some noises outside. He saw the car dome light on and 3 people trying to break into his and other vehicles.
The sheriff’s deputies took issue with how Jeffrey Barton handled his firearm and said that the law would not justify his use of the shotgun.
“There must be a self-defense component, along with a life-threatening situation — none of which appeared to be the case here, they said.”
Barton plead not guilty to the charge of illegal aiming or discharging a firearm.
