My Fox Atlanta reported, “Officers were told that a black male walked into the Waffle House with a gun in hand and demanded money. At some point, a customer took action by shooting the robbery suspect… The suspect was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated. There were no details regarding the nature or severity of the suspect’s injury, or the suspect’s identity.”
Waffle House corporate policy is to ban firearms from all Waffle House locations. The company says this decisions is based on legal matters that result from allowing armed customers.
But it’s only because of an armed citizen that this gun-waving criminal was stopped and the other people in the restaurant were sparred from potential harm.
Authorities say a customer at a Waffle House outside Atlanta shot and wounded a suspect who was trying to rob the restaurant.
Police say the shooting happened early Monday, when a gunman tried to hold up a Waffle House in south Fulton County.
Union City police Det. Gloria Hodgson says the suspect entered the Waffle House just before 2 a.m., armed with a pistol and demanding money.
Hodgson said that a customer inside the 24-hour diner shot the suspect. The suspect, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. His condition wasn’t immediately available.
Hodgson says there were no other injuries.
Who knows if the criminal knew the Waffle House policy on guns, but if more crooks knew they would be shot if they tried to point a gun at someone and commit a crime it stands to reason that fewer of them would attempt stuff like this.
