A Texas woman looked like she was complying with what the knife-wielding robber wanted her to do, but instead of reaching for her wallet, she grabbed her gun.
For some reason low-life crooks like to target gas stations to carry out their robberies. Not only are there plenty of cameras to catch the crime, but in this case there was a gun-carrying woman who was not about to become a victim.
On Friday night at an Exxon Station in Houston Texas a woman in her 30’s pulled in to fill up her tank.
According to Chron.com,
She was in the driver’s seat when a man suddenly got into the passenger side. He pulled out a knife and demanded her cash, Harris County sheriff’s deputies said.
The woman agreed and reached over to her purse. But instead of money, she pulled out a pistol.
“She shoots him one time in the left shoulder,” Deputy Thomas Gilliland said.
The man fled, running north along FM 2100. He collapsed about a quarter-mile away.
The man was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Texas Medical Center because of the blood loss. He was later listed in stable condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital, authorities said.
He is facing a charge of aggravated robbery.
The woman is licensed to carry a concealed weapon. Although the case will be referred to the Harris County grand jury, authorities said the shooting appears to be self-defense.
Recent legislature in Texas (HB 910) will soon allow a person with a concealed handgun license to openly carry their firearm. If the law is signed it will go into effect on January 1st, 2016.
Current law in Texas allows residents to carry a handgun in a vehicle without a license.
The anti-gun movement hates stories like these and chooses to ignore them, but what would they rather have the woman in this case do?
Because of her actions under pressure another criminal is off the streets and will not be trying to hold a knife to anyone’s throat any time soon. Had she been only carrying a can of mace or pepper spray this may not be the case.
