CASTLETON TWP, MI – A 26-year-old woman was feeding her horse in the family barn when a man attacked her with a knife to her throat and told her not to do anything stupid.
But little did the attacker know that he was the one who just did something very stupid himself. He attacked the daughter of a fallen police officer who taught his daughter to carry a gun.
Even though the young woman complied with the attacker, he began stabbing her, once in the leg and once in the stomach. And that’s when Samantha Minehart pulled out the gun that she carried with her and fired two shots at the suspect.
Watch the video of the incident:
It is not clear that she was able to hit the man, but he ran away immediately, and Samantha’s quick actions probably saved her life.
She required 11 stitches from the knife wounds.
The police were contacted after the attack and setup a perimeter around the Minehart’s property, but right now the suspect is still at large. The Minehart’s said this is not the first time they had confrontations on their property, and in fact it was the 3rd time they have had to call the police because of trespassers, including one who punched the daughter’s fiancee in the face.
Because of these previous issues Samantha had that gun on her person, and carrying that gun might have saved her life that day. We all wish she could have hit her intended target, but after already being stabbed and being in fear for her life, it’s not always the best conditions for accuracy.
