Kendra is an inspiration to many for her bravery . She has received national attention for her ability and aptitude to defend herself. Now she is being recognized in a special ceremony in Tulsa, OK at the annual Oklahoma Public Safety Conference. Even the Durant police officers are saying that she is an inspiration.
Those who were on scene said they are extremely proud of her for what she did.
Perhaps you remember the story of the 12 year old girl was home for fall break when a man named Stacy Jones broke in. Kendra was hiding in the closet with her mother’s gun when Stacy Jones tried to break the closet door down. Kendra shot through the door and struck Jones in the shoulder. Jones then left the premises.
Kendra stayed on the phone with the 911 dispatcher during the entire ordeal. Bryan County law enforcement were able to find Jones quickly, and arrested him on the spot. Stacy Jones was found guilty of burglary in the first degree earlier this year and was sentenced to 25 years and was added an extra 5 years probation. Hats off to young Kendra!
