This just in. Criminals prefer NOT to break into the homes of armed homeowners. And in this case, the bad guys could not get out of the house fast enough after they found out the homeowner was armed with a shotgun.
41-year-old Christopher Todd Shelton and his wife were woken up at 3:20 am on Saturday night in their Stoneville, NC home. Their dog was barking at at least one suspect who had broken into their home. The husband’s first move was to grab his shotgun and he then confronted the intruder in the den of their home.
According to Myfox8.com the intruder was armed with a hammer, which was possibly also the tool used to break into the house.
Shelton fired a shot at the intruder who then ran from the scene while yelling for his accomplice to get into the car. Apparently the crook did not want to continue with his crime in the home of a gun owner who was willing to do what it takes to protect his home.
Deputies said the suspects fled the house in a dark blue or black passenger car, but it is not certain if one of the intruders was shot or not. The police currently have 2 persons of interest that may have been involved in the case.
No charges have been brought against the homeowner. It’s good to know it’s still legal to protect your home and family from intruders in North Carolina.
Funny how the anti-gunners seem to ignore little facts in stories like this where the bad guys run for their lives the moment they see a gun. But the truth of the matter is that these crooks would have much rather broken into the home of a gun control activist.
