Police say an elderly woman grabbed her firearm to fend off two men that wanted to rape and rob her. It happened around 9 p.m, according to Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, at the 37000 block of Garrapatos Road.
Deputies initially responded to an attempted home invasion. The two men broke into the home armed with knives. They then made their way into the bedroom where they tried to rape the elderly woman whose name has not been released.
Much to the dismay of the knife waving perverts, the elderly woman was able to defend herself when she produced a firearm.
While the two men did escape the elderly lady is safe and sound with her firearm. Although it would have been better for her to have shot the two men, she still has her life; and she can thank the freedom to own a weapon as the one thing that saved her life.
Bay News reports “Deputies have not arrested either of the men. Both suspects are described as Hispanic men in their mid 20s standing between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 4 inches tall, sheriff’s officials said. The first suspect weighed between 120 and 130 pounds and the second suspect weighed between 185 and 200 pounds, according to sheriff’s officials.”
The fact that she escaped with her life is satisfying, but would have made a much better title to say 2 KIA thugs went down from grandma. Please keep you firearm within reach at night, as intruders move much faster in real life than in movies where they tip toe through the house.
